So, how will this impact our environment, animals and skiing seasons in the Australian Alps? And what can we do to slow down the impact? We asked PhD Candidate Ruby Olsson of @ANUchannel and researchers from @ProtectOurWintersAustralia for the facts; here is 60 Seconds of Science. Aus...
Meet Australia's devoted flying-fox carers
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.14 дней назад
The 2023-24 season for Australia's flying-foxes has been a devastating one - for reasons that largely remain a mystery to researchers, thousands of bat babies (also known as pups) have been left orphaned. Rescuers and carers have been inundated with calls for help. Some would have hundreds of the animals in their care, with many more coming in every day. @annetteruzicka1507 worked alongside the...

IN CONVERSATION: Dr Weliton Menário Costa - Kangaroo Time
For years I had a massive irrational fear of spiders, to the point where it ruled my life during certain parts of the year. I would scream and cry in pure fear, looking back I laugh but at the time it was horrible. I had to do something about it, so by watching RUclips videos like this and by my favourite RUclipsrs like Daveslittlebeasties and Kat, I now respect them and find them fascinating and beautiful in their own right. I can now pick up a large house spider without freaking out, to release it outside as my daughters still haven’t tackled their fear yet, haha ❤
This is why I will only hold jumping spiders
❤❤❤❤💐 amitiés de 🇨🇭
I have lived in eastern Australia my whole 27 year old life and have never seen one of these nor do I want to, regular sized huntsmans freak me out enough already 😅
Fair enough! 😂
In 2022, the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) reported the highest levels of coral cover across two-thirds of the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) in over 36 years
And last summer, the GBR experienced another mass coral bleaching event, with some locations recording the highest temperatures in 50 years. The reef does and can regrow, but it also keeps suffering from increasingly detrimental impacts.
Idc if it’s not poisonous, kudos to,you for holding it. I don’t mind spiders, I just don’t want to hold big ones.
Definitely best left to the experts!
So are you sure they don't bite.
It's not to say they CAN'T bite... but it's very rare that they DO. Most importantly, they're not deadly to humans!
LOVE IT AS I LOVE ALL ARACHNIDS.
Well I did want to visit Australia. But drop bears and now this? I’ll stay in the southern US with our gators, giant roaches, and mosquitoes!
We promise it's a pretty spectacular place... and the wildlife typically stays away - a few dozen million people can vouch for that!
Beautiful birds. The ultimate lifer!
They sure are! 🧡
Australia is my personal Hell.
Awwww! We have some of the world's most stunning places... and we promise, these kinds of creatures are far more scared of you than you are of them!
You numpties. There is an abundance of research well beyond your scope of knowledge!
what's a fardar? something about an online broom?
I hope hostile aliens land in Australia first.A ten minute stroll in any direction will convince them that this planet is way too dangerous.
Second favourite bird after the brown booby!
i was thinking of moving to Australia and then i learned about these mother fuckers and no i'm all good.
What a bunch of crock. I have had many huntsman spiders in my house. They about as common as anything. I even remember waking up in the morning to a huntsman on the wall next to my bed!
These are specifically the green-bellied huntsman.
They're so beautiful~ What magical birds!
Aren’t they special? 🧡
❤❤❤😊
🧡
I love all creatures no matter what horror-like features it got I understand all in nature has a purpose….but….nope….im walking 30 meter around…cool from a distance 🤗
😂
I live in Sydney and I often have huntsman spiders in the house, but not as big as the one in the video. They're good to have around as they eat mozzies and other bugs around the house. They're also good at entertaining my cats. They will sit and watch them for hours.
Absolute nightmare
😬
Huntsmen are cool cats. I took a high school trip to Bermuda and they “housed” all of us, boys and girls, on a small island, in these literal barracks with no windows…one enormous room for like 30 kids (made absolutely no effort to keep us from hooking up and doing every manner of thing kids our age should NOT have been doing lol). Anyway, there was a large huntsman who just hung out on the ceiling/wall the entire time we were there. It actually made for a great roommate. Didn’t bother us in the least and probably caught at least a few of the bugs that would’ve otherwise pestered us. Ever since then huntsmen have been on my list of awesome animals. Eight legged allies 🫡
Is this Bindy?
Not quite... just another passionate Aussie! 🙂
I live in Texas and I’m truly envious. The only thing that big is a cuddly wild tarantula and not very friendly.
I'm glad I saw this clip. I always thought Huntsman were venomous and a danger to people. I love spiders!
Fascinating! Yet they don't spin webs? Just wait for a meal to crawl to them.
That's right - the only time they do is when the females produce an egg sac! That's the case for all huntsman spiders.
I have never seen that species before!
They're fascinating, aren't they? 🧡
@@ausgeo very, they are the size or a tarantula but are not.
Can whales rescue people
There are a number of instances recorded where whales (and also dolphins) have saved people from dangerous situations. They, in fact, do it with a number of animals, particularly against predators!
Fook that!!!
Caitlin: "If you see one of these in the wild it's a huge privilege." Me: Nah, I'll be too busy cleaning out my shorts.
🤣
I am glad that we do not have that poisonous snakes in austria xD
It's okay, Australia's keeping most of them for the rest of the world. 😂
When we lived in Arizona out in the boonies. We used to have a lot of Arizona Blonde tarantulas around our koi pond. It’s the largest American tarantula. Very docile. You can let one walk on to your hand if you need to move it while gardening. You have to be careful you don’t aggravate it as can brush off prickly hairs which can get into your eyes I’ve heard. Handled many of these, never felt threatened. They have VERY large fangs. Great for eating scorpions and crickets. We used to drop crickets near their burrows- they must have thought of us as the food delivery service ;)
She is Awesome...a mother of Mother Nature.
I was hoping to see a green belly
0:15 she is playing it cool but you can see her arm is shaking. I am the guy who pay attention to every slightest details 😁
😂
yeah right "they do not live inside"?? I had them twice on my back as they were hiding in the bathroom towels, so out of the shower throw the towel on my back and boom a huge huntsman on my back....
Yeah..... more teeth would be terrifying...... 💀
🤣
Like, if you're an arachnophobe and you're trying to cope😧😵💫🫣
😬
Nope, you won't convince me with "gentle giant"
She is so super cute and super sweet ❤
How deadly is it
So beautiful <3
Of course it exists, and of course its from Australia 😂
I used to have a large rural property in northern nsw. Lots of rainforest. Am used to big huntsmans, but while setting fox traps, I saw one in the lantana - same as this one, but had a body MUCH bigger than a mouse. Took me by surprise, been living out bush all my life and never seen a spider that big.
No thank you.
😂
She's trippin
Whoaahhh... what the heck...
Awesome work thanks.
Thanks for watching!
If it somehow lays that damn 250 eggs in your house ,well then the house is not yours anymore its theirs
